{"id":12755,"date":"2025-01-15T11:18:25","date_gmt":"2025-01-15T16:18:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sim-pilot.com\/?p=12755"},"modified":"2025-03-11T10:04:58","modified_gmt":"2025-03-11T14:04:58","slug":"port-saint-john-305m-container-ship-simulation-study","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sim-pilot.com\/en\/port-saint-john-305m-container-ship-simulation-study\/","title":{"rendered":"Port Saint John 305m Container Ship Simulation Study"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sjport.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Port of Saint John<\/a> commissioned the MSRC to conduct real-time navigation simulations to determine operational parameters for 305 m container vessels transiting the port\u2019s entry channel and berthing at the newly expanded <a href=\"https:\/\/fr.sjport.com\/facilities-tabs\/blog-post-title-three-wx3xx-pn6k9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rodney North Terminal<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The study took place at the MSRC\u2019s facilities in Quebec City over a five-day period using a 360\u00ba DNV Class A, Full Mission Simulator and 3 other interactive bridges. All 34 manoeuvres were conducted by seasoned Saint John pilots, who were assisted by experienced tug masters from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.atlantictowing.com\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Atlantic Towing<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The MSRC\u2019s in-house team designed and created the &#8220;pilot-grade&#8221; container vessel model, which, thanks to the use of specific ship data, boasts a very high degree of accuracy. Its performance was validated by various pilot groups that are familiar with this type of vessel.<\/p>\n<p>The MSRC\u2019s own database development tool was used to create a high-fidelity 3D geographical area model to include all aspects of the channel\u2019s bathymetry and shore-side structures.
