The MSRC was engaged as part of the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine Tunnel rehabilitation project, carried out by the Renouveau La Fontaine consortium (Pomerleau, Eurovia, and Dodin Campenon Bernard) for the Quebec Ministry of Transportation and Sustainable Mobility. The rock placement work above the tunnel required the presence of large floating equipment near the St. Lawrence River navigation channel.

Using its navigation simulator, the MSRC conducted a series of simulations with licensed pilots from the Corporation of Mid St. Lawrence Pilots to assess whether this work would affect the safety of vessel transits and manoeuvres. The results confirmed that an adequate level of safety would be maintained and, where necessary, helped identify additional measures to ensure safe navigation during the work.
