Long Wharf Large Cruise Ship Study

Year : 2018

Client : Port of Saint John

Project detail :

The purpose of this study was to determine whether cruise liners with a maximum length of 320 meters can safely manoeuvre at the Long Wharf Terminal in Saint John harbour.

For the achievement of this study, 11 manoeuvres consisting of six (6) berthing and five (5) unberthing were carried out. These manoeuvres took place at the MRSCs’ facilities.

The MSRC developed a ship model and data base for the simulations. Also, 3D currents were used for this study to provide the highest possible accuracy of local currents. The MSRC also drafted a field report on the mooring according to tidal conditions.
