New port infrastructure project for Bécancour
2025

Client(s) : Société du parc industriel et portuaire de Bécancour (SPIPB)
A new port infrastructure project is being studied by the management of the Société du parc industriel et portuaire de Bécancour (SPIPB). It includes two separate projects: the addition of a mooring boat in the extension of wharf B-1 and the extension of wharf B-5.
SPIPB management has called on the Maritime Simulation and Resource Centre (CSEM) to conduct a series of simulations to assess the impacts on ship maneuvers, particularly at the entrance to the basin where ships will have to pass further east after the installation of the dolphin. Pilots from the Corporation des pilotes du Saint-Laurent central (CPSLC) carried out all the maneuvers.
Following this series of maneuvers, the pilots concluded that by respecting the recommendations and limits established during these simulations, the vessels used in these exercises can be maneuvered safely when entering and leaving the port.
