Simulations of ship maneuvers as part of the redevelopment of the port facilities of Matane

2023

Client : Norda Stelo and Société québécoise des infrastructures

The Port of Matane, Canada, is considering redeveloping its port facilities to increase dock capacity while providing more storage space for the goods handled. The infrastructure redevelopment aims to accommodate a substantial increase in port activity and increase storage capacity for the goods handled.

The current main dock would be rebuilt and restructured to allow optimal use for the bulk carriers that maneuver there. A second dock would be added perpendicular to the first.

The engineering consulting firm NORDA STELO, representing the Bas-Saint-Laurent and Gaspésie Port Corporation, has mandated the MSRC to conduct a series of maneuvers at docks 2 and 3 of each option. The objective is to determine which option will offer the greatest benefits while being as safe as possible.
